Looks like a big meat thermometer. I guess for when you need to check your foods temp but aren’t sure if its dead yet?

My new HK came w/ a bayonet, but it’s missing the latch that keeps it attached to the rifle. No matter, I’ll be swapping the flash hider w/ one that will work with my suppressor, so the bayonet is now just a knife anyway.

Looks scary.

Kind of defeats the short length advantage of the KSG’s design, though. The bayonet and the long flash hider/breeching muzzle make the gun longer than necessary.

KSG is on my short list... but I don’t have that kind of money for that purpose right now. An RDB would be fantastic... but even more expensive. An M43 would be interesting... basically an AK-look steel and wood furniture version of the RDB (Rifle, Downward-ejecting, Bullpup)

A matched pair would be all sorts of awesome, though.

And when those run out... (14 loaded 12-gauge, and multiple 30-round rifle magazines... should hold out a while) A Chiappa Rhino 40DS in either 40S&W, or .357 Magnum with a swappable 9mm cylinder also. The bridge across the top is begging to be custom milled above the barrel for an integrated laser, to keep the rail open for a light.

Kinja'd!!!

I kinda like the innovative, interesting stuff, rather than just yet another AR15/10, AK/SKS, 1911, or striker-fired semi-auto pistol... they are fine, and widely cloned, but kind of run-of-the-mill.

Yeah the KSG and the RFB have been my short list as well. Did not know about the m43; definitely digging the wooden furniture. As for pistols and revolvers, I love me a Chiappa or a Mateba. I’ve also been lusting after the Lebedev PL-14 ever since it was announced. Its got that low bore axis and the grip angle looks rather nice to hold, plus wood panel grips.

That is cool.

Browning HP locking action, in-running slide-in-frame... Seems like an extra-low-bore version of a CZ75/EAA Witness/Jericho/IWI “baby” Desert Eagle.

I have a .40 IWI Baby Eagle, but the low bore height with the bottom rail makes the Lebedev look even cooler, and probably shoot flatter with less muzzle flip effect, like the low-bore Chiappa Rhino or Mateba revolvers.

If I could find a thin, single-stack semi-compact 9mm/40 chambered pistol, with a bore axis that low... with an under-slung rail, but otherwise highly rounded and smoothed for holster carry... sort of like a cross between the Lebedev’s geometry, a Walther PPS’s size and thinness, and the smooth surfacing like a Taurus Curve... that would be a very cool carry gun. A 3+” barrel for 25-foot accuracy, and a long enough grip with an extended magazine well for my whole hand. I just don’t know if there would be enough volume inside the frame for the mechanism in a gun that small with a very low bore.

Have you used any recently? I’m not too familiar with their pistols but their latest long gun offerings (RDB, KSG, RFB) are all quite nice.

Holy shit, how did I not know about the RDB? Looks like it’s been out for over a year now, I’ve never seen one in the flesh, or if I did I must have thought it was an RFB. The RFB has been on my list for a while, though not the first, but the RDB may have just surpassed it and a few other things. And to think, just this morning I was reading that CZ is about to offer a BREN 805 rifle for sale. Decisions, decisions.

A laser or light built into the space above the barrel on the Rhino is a great idea. I’ve seen similar solutions for the Tavor ( placing a light in the hollow handguard area below the barrel ), but the Rhino idea never occurred to me.

Did Chiappa ever get their sh*t together, quality wise? I know the first few years of Rhino production had quality issues, but hopefully by now the bugs have been worked out. I’d love to shoot one, and possibly own one, to match up with my K-frames.

I recall hearing about those a year or so ago, but is there any way to get one in the US?

Kinja'd!!!

I’m actually thinking strongly about getting an L9-A1 (pictured) - It’s a slide-in-frame design like the CZ75 and has a very low bore-axis. I was thinking about a CZ-P09 but I like to be different and the L9A1 with it’s slightly more aggressive grip angle feels fantastic in my hand.

I don’t know if anyone makes your dream gun, but there’s a few that are close. CZ makes the RAMI - it’s basically a miniaturized CZ75. I almost bought one as a dedicated CCW gun but it’s double stack and thus kind of thick for my tastes.

The other would be the Steyr S9-A1. Again, it’s a double stack, but it’s got that same geometry as the Lebedev, also slide-in-frame, very low bore height.

I haven’t really heard much about them recently, and I only very rarely even see one. It is a complex mechanism for an internal striker-fired, cylinder-advancing revolver that fires from the bottom... and the ‘hammer’ is really only a cocking lever, it doesn’t cycle when fired, or have a firing pin. there are Double-or-single action versions, or double-action-only, so the trigger pull does cock the hammer first, if not already cocked... that is a complex mechanism.

S40-A1 is quite interesting.... It isn’t quite as super-low as the Lebedev, but much lower than my IWI Baby Eagle .40. It is a bit longer in barrel and grip than a PPS .40 (they just announced a PPS M2 variant, of that with updated operating system and different ergos and looks...)

The S40 doesn’t look to be single-stack, but probably half way between the PPS’s size and my full-size steel IWI.

Oh, I know they’re extremely complex internally, and I’m familiar with the Glock clockwork mechanism that makes them work. I’m just curious if Chiappa has consistently put them together properly. I heard multiple alarming stories of them locking up with no warning when first released, suggesting poor fitting of the internals or poor material choice/manufacturing leading to premature wear. If they all work properly, I’d seriously consider one.

Unf, the BREN 805 rifle looks pretty cool. A discount SCAR with some improvements and a Czech accent? Yes please. The Scorpion EVO carbine looks good too. CZ is getting a small pile of my money this year, even if I stick to their bolt action catalog as planned.

I think InRange TV had a preview on the RDB, and has a longer full review video coming. Wait, here it is! It looks fun, though I’m doubtful about Kel-tec’s ability to manufacture them well...or in any reasonable quantity.

Have you looked at Kahrs? They sit low in the hand, are very slim, and have short barrels. You have to deal with the long DAO trigger and lack of rail, but that’s less of an issue on a carry gun.

I love CZ stuff - I have 4 CZs (70, 75, 82 pistols and 58 rifle) and they are all fantastic. The Scorpion EVO looks great though not really something that personally interests me, but it does get rave reviews. And the BREN just kills it for me - it will do everything my AR does but it’s a CZ. That’s reason enough for me.

I’ve always loved bullpup guns, but I’ve never found “the one.” I’ve shot AUGs, FS2000s, Tavors, etc. and always walked away thinking they are cool but not cool enough for me to drop +/- $2,000. The RDB changes that. According to Keltec’s site the MSRP is $1550, so I’m hoping to see them on the street for $1400 or less. As for quality, it doesn’t bother me much. I know they made some crap in the past, but I hear almost always positive things about their newer offerings, and after seeing teardowns of the RDB, it looks like there isn’t too much to screw up. The only thing that worries me is their ability to mass produce it. Still, I’ve been scouring the web and calling all the Keltec dealers I know looking for one.

Chiappas are so cool. If I ever own a revolver, it will fire from the bottom chamber.
